Steakhouse Live are very pleased to launch the Steakhaus, a new live-in artist residency space in Folkestone on the beautiful Kent Coast.
The Steakhaus offers a space for artists working in Live Art to undertake self-funded, self-directed residencies to focus on developing their work and practice. Providing a place to think and the opportunity to have a change of pace from normal routine.
Accommodation is provided on a self-catering basis, with a private bedroom, plus a kitchen, bathroom and living room which will be shared with other artists during your stay.
A small but very light studio space with a desk is also available for sole use throughout the residency and features a shared roof terrace to have breaks and enjoy the world going by.
Residencies can take place throughout the year and last from a minimum of 1 day to a maximum of 10 days, dependent upon availability. Applications are reviewed and selected on a rolling basis and are welcome at any time.
The Steakhaus is an ideal space to make work, read and reflect on your practice. It also acts as the perfect base to spend some time by the sea and explore Folkestone and the surrounding coastline.
At the moment it is set up for just one artist but if you are a company then we may be able to accommodate more. Also if you are working with a mentor/dramaturg/tech/designer etc etc and require them to stay for one or two nights this also may be possible – send us a wee email and we can try and work it out: contact@steakhoouselive.com
Access: the Studio is on the the 4th floor of the building via a many steps and there is no lift.
Studio size: 3.8 by 2.2 metres
The rent to stay at The Steakhaus for unfunded artists is £5 a day, which includes all bills and utilities.
We are happy to be part of funding applications. For artists that receive funding the rent will be £25 a day.
Money received goes back into supporting the Live Art community and furthering artists professional development
